Jason Hunt - Member for Caloundra
Jason Hunt has lived in Caloundra since his family moved here from Sydney in 1973.
He graduated from Caloundra State High School, class of ’87 before enlisting in the Australian Regular Army and serving in the 2/14th Light Horse Regiment. After discharging from the service, he decided to seek further education and finished his Bachelor of Education (Secondary Teaching - History Major) at the Queensland University of Technology.
At the time of graduating, getting a full-time position proved difficult. Wanting to remain close to his family and continue enjoying the great lifestyle of Caloundra he took the advice of his best friend and applied to work at Woodford Correctional Centre, his first thought was to just to give it try.
After "giving it a try" for 21 years, he was elected as the Queensland State Member for Caloundra as a member of the Australian Labor Party (ALP) in 2020.
Jason has always said, it is a great honour to be a Member of Parliament, but an even greater one to be the Member for your hometown.
To say Jason loves Caloundra is an understatement.
